The UBC MAA Student Leadership Award is a peer-nominated award recognizing two UBC MD undergraduate program students, one student in Year 1 or 2 and one student in Years 3 or 4, who demonstrate excellence in leadership by engaging and guiding others in promoting a responsible and evolving medical student community and health care system.
Each recipient of the award will be presented with $500 to be used towards education and invited to the UBC Medical Alumni Awards ceremony.
Nominations are now open for the 2024 Student Leadership Award! Nomination deadline: January 31, 2025.
Eligibility
- Nominator must be a current student in the UBC MD undergraduate program at time of nomination.
- Nominee must be a current student in the UBC MD undergraduate program at time of nomination.
- If multiple students wish to nominate the same individual, we kindly request that a single, combined nomination form be submitted.
- For MD PhD student nominees, please refer to the UBC MD PhD studies timeline document to determine which category (Year 1 and 2 or Year 3 and 4) is applicable
Nomination Criteria
- Student demonstrates responsibility for their medical student community and the health care system
- Student engages others in creating proactive initiatives or inclusive events for the enhancement of the medical community and/or improvement of health care
- Student is dedicated to the building of relationships to ensure a cohesive professional community
- Student mentors and supports fellow students to create a culture of openness and foster a compassionate environment
- Student inspires and encourages people within medicine and/or across disciplines to collaborate towards common goals benefiting their community and beyond
Nomination deadline: January 31, 2025
Only nominations received by the deadline date will be accepted. Incomplete nominations will not be considered.
