Demystifying Estate Planning

This event has now passed. Please see photos here.

If you are interested in a future event, please check our Events regularly and/or email med.alumni@ubc.ca to express your interest.

Whether you want to write a will but don’t know where to start; are interested in how to protect both your future and that of the next generation; or would like to know more about the tax benefits of charitable giving, we can help demystify what can seem like an overwhelming process.

Join our speakers Monique Trépanier from Scotia Wealth Management and John Fleming from Gift and Estate Planning at UBC, for an enlightening workshop to allow you to take your next steps.

Presented in partnership with:

Estate Planning Speakers

Monique Trepanier – Estate and Trust Consultant, Scotia Wealth Management

As an Estate and Trust Consultant, Monique helps clients to develop an estate plan that reflects their wishes, minimizes taxes and also covers all the bases, including possible future incapacity. She provides trust services that start with this planning to ensure financial well-being into the next generation, and extends to serving as trustee of estates and ongoing trusts.

Monique’s past includes practicing law at a large law firm in Vancouver, specializing in the areas of wills and estate law, charity law, and corporate commercial law.

John Fleming – Gift and Estate Planning UBC

In his role at UBC John assists donors in matching their philanthropic intentions with the multitude of opportunities on the UBC campuses, including complex gifts, gifts of securities and estate planning, allowing donors to meet their philanthropic goals in the most tax effective way. John has a varied background at UBC having worked in many different areas in Development and Alumni Engagement, and over 20 years experience working with private foundations.

Please email med.alumni@ubc.ca regarding future workshops.
